Waiting at Etro, lulled by the comfy Etro print seat cushions, classical music and the fact that I slept only one hour last night. (That evil 2nd night jet lag gets me every time.) It’s shoe showroom day in Milan, which means I’m gonna fly by the seat of my leather leggings to as many showrooms as possible, squeezed in between a gazillion shows. Read more »

Packed about 3 days worth of shows and re-sees into today so forgive me if I’m a bit loopy! One thing’s for sure– jet lag is a luxury I can’t afford to indulge in, but my bed is calling me so here are just a few morsels before I call it a day:
Cranky buyers and editors are complaining bitterly about the (even) shorter Milan schedule–its actually nuts, even for a fashion crazed high-energy type-A like me!
From early-morning dominatrixes at Dsquared, all the way through to futuristic tartans at Jil Sander tonight, it was run run run. I think next season I’ll need a chopper. Read more »

We love a suit in an unexpected colour. (Actually, we just love a suit in general.) The pleated, cropped pant adds a further twist to this Lovely’s look. And that suede bag? Gimme!

Discreet and delicate was name of the game at Alberta Ferretti, where standout pieces include a camel princess coat embellished with quiet fur cuffs and crystal trim. Whisper thin sheer nude sleeves peaking out from under light, embellished dresses makes me think of figure skating costumes. It would be a shame if one of the nude satin or black and nude tulle gowns doesn’t turn up on the red carpet come Oscar night.

The strips on this Lovely’s dress give it a bit of a gladiatorial feel–twisted by the dusty hue and lightly scalloped hem. The black booties are a good example of how to toughen up spring’s subdued colour palette.

Carmen Kass opened and closed the Dsquared show, where models descended from an elevator shaft in dominatrix wear–hardcore black leather and chains, feathers, red lips and latex! At 9 a.m. Feeling fresher were their boxy charcoal suits and camel fox furs. Gold-medal snowboarder Shaun White was front row!

Stefano and Domenico went uphill with a downhill collection full of Nordic knits and great foxy furs at D&G. Fur bloomers not your thing? No worries–you can try them in cable knit! Shaggy fur leg warmers stomped down the runway with head-to-toe knit bodysuits. The designers also threw velvet, and a chiffon calla lily print into the mix.
