US-based discount retailer Marshalls is expanding its Canadian presence with a new flagship store in downtown Toronto. The store, which opened today, is now the largest Marshalls store in Canada. Located at Yonge and Gerrard, the flagship boasts 55,000 square feet of shopping bliss.

For those who don’t know, Marshalls carries brand name clothing and accessories at reduced prices. Similar to Winners, Marshalls offers thousands of designer names that are constantly rotating for a treasure hunt kind of feel. They carry a wide range of styles, so shoppers never know what items they might find. The Toronto flagship also features a home décor department that is currently exclusive to the flagship, but it will be expanding to other Canadian Marshalls stores by August.

Miu Miu Toronto Holt Renfrew

See inside Miu Miu’s Toronto Holt Renfrew location

We’ve been chomping at the bit since news of Toronto’s first Miu Miu location was announced last year and have finally got our piece—the leather and accessories shop-in-shop has finally opened inside Holt Renfrew Bloor Street!

From these first photos, the Miu Miu shop fits in perfectly on Toronto’s Mink Mile. Its shimmering display cases, damask curtains and matte gold counters (not to mention enviable purse selection) are just a few reasons why. Designed by architect Roberto Baciocchi, the shop’s warm colour palette offsets the brand’s signature colour pops, all the while whetting our shop-till-you drop appetites. No word on the brand’s ready-to-wear collection making it into store, but we’re hoping this is one step closer.

Vaughan Mills Expansion 2013

Hot on the heels of Yorkdale Shopping Centre’s recent expansion, Vaughan Mills mall will reportedly undergo an $87-million redevelopment and expansion project later this year. The project is expected to add approximately 50 new retailers and 150,000 sq ft in floor area to accommodate them. This will result in a total of 250 stores and 1.1 million sq ft of shopping madness.

This is exciting news for the Vaughan Mills Mall, which continues to grow as a major shopping destination. Known for housing popular outlets such as Holt Renfrew Last Call and the Michael Kors Outlet, the mall has also recently added stores like Calvin Klein, J Crew Factory, and the UGG Australia Outlet. A list of the new stores that will come as a result of this expansion is not yet available, but further details will likely be announced in the spring or summer.

“My mom went to Yorkdale and all she got me was olive oil.” That’s what my twenty-month old son might say, if he could talk. But jokes aside, the $185 million expansion to Yorkdale Shopping Centre, complete with heavy hitter nation-wide firsts, is enough to cause serious shopper anxiety: Too much choice.

New to Canada, and Yorkdale, are Kate Spade, Loft, Microsoft, Ted Baker and Tesla Motors (yes, THE car dealer). More familiar retailers sharing the 145,000 square foot addition include Diesel, Ann Taylor, Hugo Boss and Wilfred to name a very few. Holt Renfrew will unveil its new digs in the new year.

Legendary French fragrance and beauty brand Guerlain revamped its Toronto boutique just in time for the holiday season. The Bloor Street shop (which originally opened in 2003) has changed both inside and out to offer a more spacious shopping experience based on an architectural vision that came directly from Paris. Notably, the exterior façade has been completely redone, taking inspiration from the brand’s emblem, the imperial bee. The iconic bee perfume bottle—which was designed in 1853 for Guerlain’s Impériale Eau de Cologne—is also featured prominently within the store, including a selection of collector-worthy bottles which are hand-painted with gold detailing. Gravity Pope, a favourite of West Coast shoe addicts, has made its East Coast domination official: The brand will be setting up shop on Toronto’s Queen Street West (at Ossington Avenue) in early November.

The Toronto location will have over 4,000 square feet to display shoes, women’s and men’s wear, accessories and more. Gravity Pope gained a cult following because of the crazy range of shoes and clothing available. The store is accessible to a shoe fanatic searching for the last pairs from brands like Opening Ceremony or Marc by Marc Jacobs but also for someone searching for a more practical shoe whether it’s looking for a basic pair of Vans or a classic ballet flat by Bloch.

Topshop Vancouver Opening

Vancouver’s media and fashion folk clamoured into Topshop’s glossy new Granville Street location in the basement of the Bay yesterday, taking tours through the almost maze-like black mirrored space as they absorbed the many and varied sections the British export had on offer. From mod silhouettes to a Scandinavian-meets-military line to the fast fashion retailer’s exclusive collaboration with J.W. Anderson, the sheer number of covetable pieces was almost overwhelming. And then, there was the shoe wall—any red-blooded woman alive would experience a flutter of heart palpitations upon walking into the sleek space, where studded fall-apropos suede booties took up residence alongside futuristic powder pink and gold heels.
