Michael Kors must have been mourning the end of LOST, designing his spring collection for a sexy-, dishevelled-haired hunter-gatherer. Suede utility shorts, tasselled macramé, jagged leather satchels, and caftans in beautiful shades of amber, sienna, and khaki green were accented with coloured python and animal print; it was fitting for a far-off safari but just as relevant for the wilds of the concrete jungle.

One word sums up the first days of the Spring 2011 ready-to-wear collections at New York Fashion Week: Fresh. Eds, buyers and bloggers are glossed, fully powered-up (in every sense of the word) and ready for the runways. Models arrive backstage bright-eyed with clear complexions and nary a blister in sight (just wait until Paris….). Even our home for the week got a swish new makeover this season: Good-bye Bryant Park, hello Lincoln Centre. It’s tricked out and teched out (hey, it’s a bloggers world, baby). Want to avoid the long check-in lines? Just swipe the barcode on your show printout at one of the airport-inspired self-check-in stands. But be prepared for a snafu or two. Hermès has taken a hint from Burberry‘s Art of the Trench campaign. The French fashion house has just unveiled its J’aime mon carré project, which celebrates the iconic Hermes scarf. A website will soon be launched to feature tips on how to wear and knot the scarf and information on any scarf-related events. [Vogue UK]
The new Lanvin freestanding store in New York–which, with fox fur benches and chandeliers sounds like an absolute retail reverie–officially postponed its opening because of electricity failures, but some well-to-do New Yorkers were allowed to shop by candlelight. [Racked]

Don’t you just love starting the day with a tea and a little Tommy?
My first show of the day was Tommy Hilfiger, but before I talk clothes, I must talk crushes. My main squeeze—well, officially Diane Kruger’s—is Joshua Jackson. He brought along his million-dollar smile, baby face and jet black Wayfarers (and Kruger). Aw, Pacey….you’re all grown up but dang, you have that boyish charm down pat.
