It’s been a couple of months since the last big red carpet event and let’s face it: what is fashion without the red carpet? Since May is just around the corner, this only means the biggest fashion event of the year, the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala in New York. This year’s exhibit, PUNK: Chaos to Couture, will feature around designs for both men and women focusing on the evolution of punk’s influence in the world of fashion since the birth of its movement in the 1970s to its present day.

With punk theme as the focus, who better than to have punk’s latest muse, actress Rooney Mara, and Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci as this year’s co-chairs alongside Anna Wintour and Moda Operandi’s Lauren Santo Domingo? Not usually associated with punk, Beyonce was named Honourary Chair of the event as if her show-stopping Givenchy dress at last year’s MET Gala was not enough of a reason to be given this honour.

MTV Movie Awards 2013 Red Carpet

Last night, some of our favourite young starlets and celebrities hit the red carpet for the MTV Movie Awards where they handed out and were awarded 2013’s batch of golden popcorn statues for their important work as “best villain” and “best kiss.”

As with most red carpets skewed that are towards teens, there were some major misses by so many “stars” we have never actually heard of, but we will skip those in favour of those who hit it out of the park. MTV’s House of Style host Karlie Kloss looked like a smokeshow in a two-piece Cushnie and Ochs ensemble. The white-hot bodycon ensemble was finished off with a pair of Gucci heels. To boot, her new-to-2013 cropped bob was looking superb with an accentuated part. Zoe Saldana also showed off some skin in a Givenchy Fall 2013 (hell yes to friends in high places) look that matched florals with sheer polka dots and a thigh-high slit.

Chloe Grace Moretz was a denim dream in a patchwork Louis Vuitton dress and studded T-strap heels. She kept her beauty on the simple and age-appropriate side with a messy waterfall of curls and fresh faced skin. On the complete flip side, simple was not the name of the game for Selena Gomez who wore an embellished Julien Macdonald mini dress with a bouffant that transitioned into a side-braid.

Fashion month may have finally wrapped, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to forget about the trends that emerged for Fall 2013 on the many runways of New York, London, Milan, Paris and Toronto—In fact, it’s time for them to take front and centre. While shoppers everywhere are snapping up the best of the selling floor’s offerings for spring and summer, designers, buyers and editors alike are busy prepping ahead. And since we know y’all like to keep ahead of the curve, we’ve sorted through hundreds of photos and selected 10 of the top Fall 2013 trends so that you can mentally prep (and save) too!

Next season, it’s all about fur, which landed in both faux and real on runways including Marni, JW Anderson, and most strikingly at Fendi, where it was combined in a dizzying multitude of punky ways. The 1990s were back for another resurgence, continuing Spring 2013’s grunge trend at Saint Laurent in Paris and Chloé Comme Parris right here at home. On the street, the look was easily created by many fashion week attendees who layered plaids on waists, under jackets and even on tights. And while practically speaking, it may be no major surprise that outerwear was one of the top Fall 2013 trends, this show season we saw jackets take on new forms with quilting, oversized shapes and bold colours which were mirrored outside the shows, with equally interesting choices hitting the pavement

Here are 100 images to help jog your memory of the top Fall 2013 trends spotted inside and outside of the fashion week stents, so sit back, click through, and relive the fashion month in all its street style and runway glory.

As much as fantasy rules the runways during New York fashion week (hello Marchesa) if you peel away the layers of D-R-A-M-A there’s often a few very wearable (translation: work-to-weekend) pieces thrown into the mix. And we’re not just talking bags, though accessories tend to be the bread and butter of ready-to-wear brands. At the end of the day, or rather the start of it, women want to go into their closets and pull out something cool, classic and chic. A simple silhouette; an easy-to-digest colour palette; pieces with serious day-to-night endurance. There will always be a time and place for a knock-your-socks-off frock but most days we crave fashion that says me, only better. Here are 5 ways to wake up your wardrobe for Fall 2013.

Beyoncé wears Rubin Singer to the Super Bowl and blows our minds

Beyoncé blessed the world with her heavenly powers at last night’s Super Bowl halftime show. In less than 30 minutes, she managed to:

1. Silence the lip-sync critics by belting out several of her hits sans back-up track
2. Bust out more hip swivels than we can count
3. Pull off the ultimate surprise with the addition of Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams for a Destiny’s Child reunion despite the rumour-squashing news of late
4. Make our friends cry
5. Steal the show/break the lights
6. Make us feel the love between her and Jay-Z so much by running into his arms post-show

Perhaps most importantly for us, Beyoncé pulled a Michelle Obama by introducing the world to a lesser known New York-based designer Rubin Singer, who designed her leather and lace jumpsuit along with the costumes of Rowland, Williams and all 120 backup dancers during halftime at the Super Bowl. She had been rumoured to be wearing Givenchy, like Madonna did last year.

“This is a moment. Everyone’s expecting Beyoncé to go with a major designer,” Singer told the New York Times. “We had to make the body suit have a tremendous range of motion and flexibility. Beyoncé is such a fierce and intense performer we could not have the outfit constrict her in any way.” The bodysuit, which was made of python and iguana skin was handmade. Quite the feat, we must say.

Oh and those booties? Proenza Schouler, no big deal. This photo says it all.
