We’re suddenly finding ourselves craving a certain style of outerwear: the coatdress. While it might be a little impractical for our typical roster of day-to-day errands, Kate Middleton’s many outdoor-based engagements make it a winter wardrobe staple. (And bonus—it suits her trend of being thrifty: she gets to debut a fresh look without having to purchase both a new coat and a new dress.)

Well, it’s not only us regular single gals who are keeping busy on this day of love: Kate Middleton is also date-less on the couple’s first Valentine’s Day as a married duo. Will—who is on duty as an RAF search and rescue pilot in the Falklands—was sure to send his Valentine flowers and a card (aww!) while she took to Liverpool to continue charity work with Action on Addiction. The Duchess looked picturesque (as always) in a stunning chestnut-brown Hobbs flared coat that, as per protocol, has since sold out online. As she made her way to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Middleton was greeted by hundreds of fans bearing flowers and handmade cards as part of an apparent campaign to let her know she wasn’t alone on Valentine’s Day. (We’ll all just ignore the royal entourage that follows the Duchess wherever she goes.)

Earlier this week, New York Magazine interviewed frequent Kate Middleton-dresser Katherine Hooker. While the designer has mostly sweet and safe things to say about Kate (“I’ve nothing really to say except that she’s a lovely girl. She’s not my best friend”) and the rest of the royal family, she does have some funny anecdotes about fans who’ve been put under the Kate spell.
“We had this one girl who wanted the exact same blue Alexander jacket Kate has, so I had the exact same stuff that was made by a different mill, and stupidly I said, “Well, it wasn’t made by the same—” And literally her bottom lip was starting to wobble, and she was like, ‘I really want the same one!’ … When we did a show in L.A., there was this one woman who clearly came in just to look at me. She thought that I must be touched with some kind of royal dust or something like that.”

Kate Middleton has won the title of Hat Person of the Year by the Los Angeles-based Headwear Association. Sure, the new honour may not be as revered as that of becoming a Duchess, but Kate won against some stiff competition, so that’s got to feel good, right?

As we previously reported, the Royal Family was in for their own private wardrobe-a-thon during Kate’s first holiday as one of them, and it seems that we, the public got a peek of a few of her Christmas Day outfits as well! During her first Church walk of the day, Kate was shot, albeit, pretty far away, in a knee length grey coat and heeled black boots. The second outfit, captured on her second walk of the day, this time to greet the community along with the rest of the family (Prince Philip was absent for the first time in his history as a Royal after suffering a reported heart attack), was a festively hued burgundy coat made by an unidentified British designer, emerald and diamond drop earrings, and the MOST stunning velvet Jane Corbett hat with ruffles at the back. Oh so Scarlett O’Hara, if we may say so?

While visiting Centrepoint homeless shelter with Prince William in London last night, Kate was photographed with both hands on her belly, and we can just hear the British tabloids ca-chinging all the way to the bank. Over the last month, rumours that Kate is indeed with child/heir have been a’ swirling, and this does nothing but help those rumors along. In other news, Kate’s dress is a really pretty olive Ralph Lauren turtleneck sweater dress. That is all!
