Hello, kaleidoscopic prints: Mary Katrantzou is coming to Topshop!

Comments

What winter blues? Visions of spring just got a little bit more vibrant with the announcement of the Bay presenting Mary Katrantzou for Topshop this March at their Yorkdale Mall location!

Dare we dream to get our paws on the designer’s signature porcelain bowl-inspired skirts? You bet! The 10-piece spring capsule collection will be reminiscent of the surreal style we saw for fall, while keeping true to the Topshop girl’s aesthetic.  And with prices ranging from $120–630, a Jason Wu for Target–paced shelf clearer is certainly likely. We’ve gone bangle shopping after watching Feist’s new video. Check out our arm party picks!

Comments

The video for the first single from Feist’s new album, Metals, is here: “How Come You Never Go There” is eerie and windswept, and follows Feist through a forest. Her signature bangs are gone, replaced by a My Little Pony–worthy mess of ankle-length hair. (Dare we compare the look to that of another Canadian songstress, Alanis Morissette?) But, despite her solitude in the woods, Feist joins a party in this video—an arm party, that is! We couldn’t help but enjoy the multitude of bangles and cuffs she’s rocking, and it inspired us to pull together a rundown of our favourite Feist-inspired bracelets:

Vancouver: Banana Republic’s concept shop comes to Metrotown

A new Banana Republic store alone might not be reason enough on it’s own to hit the mall, but when it’s a new concept store, think again. The latest opening at Metropolis at Metrotown (4700 Kingsway, Burnaby, 604-438-7900, bananarepublic.com) is a 9,000-square-foot space that features shop-in-shops for each of the different Banana departments, each opening up to a wide, central boulevard. The store has a comfortable, slightly-residential feel, designed to feel like walk-in closets that you might enter depending on what you’re dressing for: There’s a closet for Sunday brunch outfits, one for fancy dinners…you get the idea. Like we didn’t already love shopping for the company’s clothing collections and accessories—seriously, the necklaces are always to die for!—now, we love it even more.

Vancouver: Rocaille’s jewellery goes for baroque

Ada bracelet, $375

For some people, money talks. But for Vancouver’s Amanda He, it wasn’t enough. After leaving a career as an investment banker for her true passion, design, she launched Rocaille (rocaille-design.com), a collection of sparkly necklaces and bracelets that are perfect as holiday dress accoutrements or, of course, gifts. He named her line after the opulent, romantic rococo style that originated in 18th century Europe and the logo, two seahorses comes from the designer’s favourite piece of jewellery, a 1950s seahorse brooch she found in Portland. Rocaille’s one-of-a-kind pieces are part art deco, part modern drama, part playful and fun—and perfect for a winter fête.
