How long does it take you to see Raquel Zimmermann in this McQueen ad?

It really did take us a while to spot Zimmermann in this Nick Knight-snapped ad for Alexander McQueen‘s Spring 2010 campaign. First you see the shoe (oh that infamous shoe) and then your eye travels up and right, putting the image together piece by piece until you arrive at a Medusa-like clutch of hair and serpent. A first rate puzzle. (Oh please someone make this a puzzle!) [via Refinery29]

Maria Cornejo is working on a menswear collection to be launched this spring. The four unisex looks shown at the Spring 2010 Zero + Maria Cornejo show received such a great response that the designer has expanded the lineup. The clothes are set to appear in stores January 15. [The Cut]

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have designed a jewellery collection called The Protector for Asprey. The line features snake-themed necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings in gold and silver.  The snake coil jewellery was inspired by a ring worn by Jolie while pregnant with Shiloh that’s since become a symbol of protection to the couple. Profits will go to the couple’s charity of choice, Education Partnership for Children of Conflict. [WWD]

In the first episode of Canada’s Next Top Model, we meet some wildly beautiful creatures, 11 also beautiful Top Model hopefuls and Jay Manuel’s sweet new ride.

Best use of the sublimely ridiculous: Jay arrives in a helicopter, because it’s not fashion unless your mode of transport is completely absurd.

Dirtiest trick: You think we’re going to say it was when Jay pretended to “pick” the top 10, who were actually models, leaving the actual top 11 to freak the hell out. But, we liked the “You’re doing this shoot with a partner” curveball. The girls are thinking male models, the producers were thinking more along the lines of wolves, snakes and vultures. Watching people squeal and squirm around snakes (not saying we wouldn’t) is no end of fun. Though the girls seem more frightened of Nigel Barker’s hotness. Read more »

Winnipeg: Snake eyes on a Sunday afternoon

Gaudy jewelry. Dusty books. Dainty china. Pins and buckles. Ancient technology. Tarnished silver… My Little Pony!  There is really nothing quite like the smell of nostalgia.  Sundays have historically been my day of rest, but after a little encouragement from a friend and a stiff cup of joe, I found a new way to spend my lazy afternoon: digging through rusted old memories at the Mulvey Market (1A 421 Mulvey Ave. E., 204-478-1217).
