The fact that we spotted Paul (that’s Sir, to you!) McCartney outside his daughter’s show should really be enough, but no. We got Alicia Keys, Salma Hayek, and every gorgeous model leaving the show with their vibrant blue lashes, too! We’re feeling pretty happy with ourselves right now…

PFW Diary: All the sleeve and shoulder action at Givenchy, Kenzo, Stella McCartney, Céline, and Chloé

We need to talk about sleeves. Shoulders too, but first sleeves.

There is a majorly mannish tailoring trend forming at the Fall 2012 shows in Paris, but what keeps it from being dull is that the designers are having fun with sleeves.

Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci cut his sleeves short and wide for boxy jackets and colour-blocked furs. We’ll surely be seeing these goods on Alicia Keys and the other stars who were in his front row.

There were striped knit sleeves on wool coats at Kenzo (made ultra-cool thanks to designers and Opening Ceremony co-founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim).

Meet Lily Collins: Our April cover star discusses her breakout role as Snow White and gives us the lowdown on her spring wardrobe staples

Lily Collins | FASHION Magazine April 2012

Princess Diary
By Dennis Hensley

Lily Collins embarks on a thoroughly modern fairy tale with her first starring role,
as a sword-fighting, prince-saving Snow White.

When Lily Collins arrived for her first costume fitting as Snow White on the Montreal set of Mirror Mirror, she assumed the most fabulous getups would go to her co-star Julia Roberts, who plays the evil queen. “I saw all these dramatic, colourful, amazing outfits and I thought, ‘Wow, Julia’s so lucky,’” says the 23-year-old British-born actress who’s best known for playing Sandra Bullock’s daughter in The Blind Side. “And then they started bringing them in, and I said, ‘Is this for me?’ The first outfit took 25 minutes to get into, and when I looked in the mirror I got teary-eyed.” Then there were the elaborate sets; she describes a giant indoor forest and 40 tons of salt for snow. “I was sprinting through this huge room of trees, in my ball gown, sword-fighting, going up cliffs,” she marvels. “When the crew brought their kids onto set, they would see me and start crying. They were like, ‘Blanche Neige!’”

Stella McCartney lends face to PETA for anti-leather campaign

Comments

Photography by Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney is lending her famous face to PETA to launch an anti-leather campaign. Known for refusing to use fur and leather in her clothing line, the designer has always been passionate about animal advocacy, which is why it’s no surprise that she is now speaking out alongside the organization in a new video.

In the clip, McCartney says, “As a designer, I like to work with fabrics that don’t bleed; that’s why I avoid all animal skins.” We had a difficult time watching the entire video, but we sure think its more effective than blood and paint tossing outside of fashion week.
