Mineral sunscreens: The new SPF rockstars

Suncare

Those of us who take pride in protecting our skin from the irreversible damage of UV rays reach for a bottle of sunscreen as instinctually as we would a toothbrush. It doesn’t matter which form: cream, lotion or spray. Fearful of coming out of the sun looking like Donatella Versace, we apply it generously and with vigour, confident that our skin’s health is being preserved. I gravitated toward the field of clothing design, partly because it is a creative format that is modern and optimistic.” [NYTimes]

Giambattista Valli has signed a licensing deal with Italy’s Mariella Burani Fashion Group. He isn’t saying yet what’s in store, just “I want to be known for all the parts of the wardrobe, not just the cocktail and evening dresses.” [StyleFile]

Not sure we can describe this Lindsay Lohan ad for Fornarina adequately. Really. It’s…*sigh*, we give up. [YouTube, via Jezebel]

Okay, but this would have been good: The Powder & The Glory details the years-long bitter rivalry between beauty giants Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden. Try to catch it next time it’s on PBS. [PBS, via WSJ]
