Certainly the most adventurous costume party of award show season, last night’s 53rd annual Grammy Awards certainly didn’t disappoint in the visual department. Raising her own bar even further, Lady Gaga literally hatched on-stage from a Hussein Chalayan-designed egg straight into her performance, outfitted in a see-through Mugler dress complete with prosthetic shoulders.

Fashion news: Lady Gaga’s stylist named creative director for Thierry Mugler
Editor, consultant and stylist Nicola Formichetti will be adding a new title before his name. The man behind Lady Gaga’s most fashion forward outfits has been named the new creative director of avant-garde fashion label Thierry Mugler.
“Thierry Mugler is about the power of glamour and walking straight into the future,” Formichetti told WWD. “He fused pop and high fashion, told a story in style and combined fantasy with reality. My approach is personal and always very eclectic. I’d like to find new ways for a luxury brand such as Thierry Mugler to excite people.”
Formichetti, who will be in charge of both menswear and womenswear, will show his first collection in Fall 2011. Sébastien Peigné has been named head designer of womenswear while Romain Kremer serve as the head designer of menswear.
