Bag Oscar PR Girl

If the name Erika Bearman doesn’t ring a bell, the Twitter handle @OscarPRgirl certainly will. The newly turned blonde beauty (insider info: blondes do have more fun according to Bearman) came to visit Holt Renfrew last week and gushed about working for fashion legacy, Oscar de la Renta and the movie Truth or Dare. Seriously, if you want to hang with Bearman, it’s highly recommended you watch that film first. It has shaped her entire life (her words, not ours!)

With only a clutch in tow, Bearman showed how to edit a bag to only the essentials but just because it’s small doesn’t mean it didn’t pack a punch. We learned that in Oscar PR Girl’s world, “bigger is better and more is more” when it comes to her cellphone and eyelashes. And if you expected Bearman to be a total girly girl because of ODLR’s signature frothy gowns, you would be mistaken. The face behind the handle loves men’s scented fragrances and even wears Old Spice.

From men’s scents to Jacqueline Kennedy to Korea, Bearman had us captivated by her every word so read on and snoop around her clutch to learn all things Oscar PR Girl.»

Bag Roksanda Ilincic

There are a few things you can safely assume about a designer just by looking at their stuff. And in the case of London-based designer Roksanda Ilincic, you can figure this: She’s arty. Between the inspiration behind her Spring 2013 collection (an Opposites Day combo of Niki de Saint Phalle and Josef Albers) and Fall 2013’s fabric play (she blended baby pink PVC and taffeta on evening coats and used laminated lace on dresses), she’s a regular renaissance girl. You can also figure she’s ladylike inclined, given her consistent leanings towards dresses, collared coats and embellished eveningwear). One thing, however, that you (or at least I) couldn’t have known, is how breathtaking she is to behold IRL. I met the Serbian-born beauty last month when she was in town at The Room at Hudson’s Bay and was completely confounded at first glance. The violet eyed, porcelain-skinned, raven-haired designer is over six feet in heels. She’s the perfect model for her clothing, (she wore the opening look from her spring collection during daytime press interviews and this dress from fall for dinner later that night at the buzzy Bent restaurant) as is the similarly slender Duchess of Cambridge, who has worn her dresses in the past. “It’s a huge privilege and such honour and to have somebody like her wearing my dresses. I’m just really, truly honoured I must say,” she raved. To boot, she carries a beautiful purse—a purple satin clutch from her own collection that mirrors the effects of Mary Poppins’ bag. So, as if this ado hasn’t enticed you enough, have a look for yourself.

Linda Lundstrom Bag

In the late 1980s/early 1990s, the Linda Lundström-designed LaParka was all the rage for anyone looking for the perfect winter coat. Lundstrom’s fashion legacy lives on and she re-launched her career in 2012 after a four-year hiatus with L by Linda Lundström. Having worked in the Canadian fashion industry since 1974, Lundström knows a thing or two about what Canadians need (and want!) for the wintertime. Her accessories collection is all handcrafted in Canada and made of leather and furs meaning no two pieces are exactly the same.

Lundström is not only in the midst of re-launching her career but also building a new home—hence why we found bits of steel siding and a tape measure that also doubles as a dog leash from time to time. Are you intrigued about what’s inside her bag yet? Read on and take a look around!

Love Into The Gloss? Go inside Emily Weiss’ purse! »

While there’s no official statistic, we feel pretty confident in stating that readers of Into The Gloss are more likely to spend an extra 10 minutes rearranging their makeup collection after applying it each morning. It’s simply impossible to read one of the site’s signature Top Shelf profiles without taking a moment to reconsider both your own catalogue of beauty products and how they’re displayed—and we have Emily Weiss to thank for that. Since launching Into The Gloss in 2010, Emily has changed the beauty blogging game. Read more »

George Kotsiopoulos E! Fashion Police in his bag

If you find red carpet style critiques more enjoyable than actual award shows, George Kotsiopoulos is definitely on your radar. As a co-host of E! Entertainment’s Fashion Police George is an expert on celebrity style dos and don’ts—a talent that’s certainly put to good use during the frenzy of award show season. While he may not be as crass as Joan Rivers, as edgy as Kelly Osbourne, or as agreeable as Giuliana Rancic, George Kotsiopoulos is certainly the most dapper host on Fashion Police panel—and rightfully so. Before joining the E! family, he was an editor for T: The New York Times Magazine and in 2011 he was ranked as one of the most powerful stylists in Hollywood.

With so much of his career focused on the fashionable goings-on of Los Angeles, you may wonder just how we met up with George Kotsiopoulos in Toronto. It turns out the Fashion Police-man is just as passionate about grooming as he is style—which is why he was a panelist at Unilever’s Be Groomed Be Gorgeous event. His number one tip for men’s skincare: start using SPF as soon as possible and apply it all the time. (This explains the bottle of Dove Men + Care Face Lotion in his bag.) Also in George Kotsiopoulos’s Viktor & Rolf bag: an Etro scarf, a Tiffany & Co money clip and a tiny sewing kit containing all the tricks of the trade that a seasoned stylist needs. Ready to see what else this E! Fashion Police host carries? Read on and explore.

Whats in your bag Hilary Farr

See what’s inside Hilary Farr’s bag »

From Hillary Clinton to décor diehards to the editors of this very website, designer Hilary Farr has amassed quite a few fans, to say the least. As one half of the W Network’s hit television show Love It Or List It, Farr has become beloved just as much for her design skills as she is for her saucy repartee with co-host and real estate agent David Visentin, whom she competes against each episode. The show’s premise has Farr attempting to fix house problems and keep Canadian families in their existing homes, whereas Visentin attempts to lure them away to a new space. Love it or list it—get it?

Aside from her starring role on the show, Farr is a busy designer IRL; having worked with over 200 clients in the past 15 years, at her company Hilary Farr Design. Those who’ve seen the show know what kind of design drama (Mysterious beams! Attic discoveries! Unhappy homeowners!) can ensue, and love Farr all the more for dealing with it. So, how exactly does she do it? We took a peek inside her bag to see what kind of ammo she carries with her everyday. We got to visit her home for the photo shoot and we can attest: we really love it.

Emily Schuman Cupcakes and Cashmere in her purse

See what Cupcakes and Cashmere’s Emily Schuman keeps in her purse »

Emily Schuman’s blog, Cupcakes and Cashmere, is true to its title: her posts are comforting (like delicious dinner party recipes), friendly (so many style and decor tips!) and full of sparkle and shine. In real life, Emily Shuman is just as poised as the content she posts—which is likely one of the reasons she’s been able to turn her blog into a full-time career. While Cupcakes and Cashmere is based out of Los Angeles, Schuman was recently in Toronto to promote her first book, which is an extension of the blog. Holt Renfrew hosted a Cupcakes and Cashmere book signing celebration and we got the chance to sneak a peek inside Schuman’s Prada purse. While there were no cupcakes inside, we did find a macaroon-shaped container, a pair of Chanel ballet flats and a perfect assortment of pink items. Ready to explore? Read on! Read more »
