White hot
Artist Todd White may have started his career with cartoons, but his depictions of Hollywood and the luxe life are getting snapped up by everyone from Sharon Stone to Hef.
Do you have a favourite designer?
“I love shopping. I love clothes. Some of my favourite designers would be Etro and Paul Smith—I think the list would be a little too long. I could keep going and going… When I hit the Grammys, I tried to get Etro to sponsor me, but it was too short notice. I like J.Lindeberg, so I got these tuxedo pants with stripes.”
What do you feel comfortable wearing? Are you more of a “jeans and T-shirt” guy?
“It’s funny, ’cause I’m a little bit hard sometimes on my girlfriend. I want her to dress really great and look cool and fun. But pretty much every day, I wake up and I wear Abercrombie shorts and a T-shirt that I paint in. I have a section of T-shirts that just have paint all over them because I’m gonna ruin them.”
Is there anyone past or present, another artist and actor, whose fashion you admire?
“I look at a lot of magazines. I get my inspiration from every angle, from nightlife. Like last night—I’m going to have tons of paintings out of last night. I like to look at things and get ideas and see what’s in trend and what’s going…but I like to mix it up, too. Like, if everybody’s doing something, I won’t do that at all. Two years ago, when the thing was to wear jackets with hoodies out of them, I was like, I’m not doing that.”
