Fall 2009 runway report: Biker chic
Tough is as tough does on the sternest of fall runways.
{FALL 2009 TRENDS GUIDE}
Rebellious, sexy and hard as nails: This is the Fall 2009 message to the modern-day woman. With ’80s nostalgia running deep, it’s only natural that the “I am woman, hear me roar” biker babes would stomp—full throttle—onto the scene in all of their liquid-leather, glam-metallic glory. Houses like Rodarte, Phi, Nina Ricci, Sportmax and Yves Saint Laurent showed a concert stadium’s worth of studded biker jackets, slick second-skin leather leggings, metal accessories and heavy-duty hardware. But what really set the women apart from the girls was this season’s most provocative extra—the thigh-high boot. Hard-edged and oh-so-hot, this fetishistic-looking footwear crawled up legs so high that they could easily be mistaken for leggings. Ladies: Get your motors running.
