Kate Middleton‘s latest style gauntlet–the royal engagement photos–was thrown down over the weekend, which means that yes, there will be a whole new spate of Kate-inspired merch. In the photos, which were taken by Mario Testino, Middleton had the audacity to wear things that she already owned: a two-year-old cream blouse from Whistles and the £159 “Nanette” dress from Reiss–both UK-based high street chains. But don’t think that just because they’re not in stores anymore that you can’t buy them. Heavens no–don’t be silly! Whistles has already said that they’ll be re-releasing the £95 blouse, re-dubbed the “Kate,” in a limited edition early next year and Reiss will have a replica of the Nanette in stores in January. (A supposedly new with tags Nanette just sold on eBay for £179.) Those who feel shame for not scoring one of the blue Issa dress Middleton wore for the engagement announcement, or one of the many, many copies it spawned, will need to get on this pronto.
