It is the end of an era for Carine Roitfeld and Paris Vogue. Roitfeld, one of the most influential editors and style arbiters in the business, will be stepping down as editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris at the end of January to pursue “personal projects.”

“It’s 10 years that I’m editor of the magazine. I think it’s time to do something different,” Roitfeld told the New York Times‘ Cathy Horyn. “I had so much freedom to do everything I wanted. I think I did a good job. When everything is good, maybe I think it’s the time to do something else.”

There has been a lot of shuffling in the international publishing industry with Aliona Doletskaya stepping down as editor-in-chief of Vogue Russia, Sally Singer leaving American Vogue for T: The New York Times Style Magazine and Stefano Tonchi resigning from T to head-up W.

However, the questions on everyone’s lips are who will replace Roitfeld and what will she do next? Word on the street is that she will return to her consulting gig with Tom Ford now that he has made his return to womenswear, but for now, that’s just a rumour.
