Style Panel: 4 ways to ease boots into your early fall wardrobe

Style Panel: Fall Boots

It’s hard to get through the fall in Canada without investing in a warm, yet completely stylish pair of boots. As temperatures continue to drop, our friends rain and snow will be making appearances soon. So if you aren’t prepared boot-wise, you can say goodbye to dry and warm feet for the next few months.

There are so many options to consider when investing in a pair of boots for this season. Depending on where you live, and how much of your day is spent outside walking, maybe Mulberry’s bright orange furry wedge boots aren’t the right pair to invest in (ever?). However, most Fall 2012 collections included many fashionable and practical pairs that can be incorporated into any wardrobe. Victoria Beckham’s ankle high-heeled boots and military style flat boots were paired with leg warmers in her runway presentation and yet still looked easy to wear while struggling through snow storms.

But let’s leave it to our trusty Style Panel to give us the real scoop on what their favorite styles for fall are and how they plan on pairing them with their outfits. From Kassandra’s gorgeous Vince Camuto pair, to Vickie Laliotis’s wear-with-anything ankle boots, our Style Panelists have gone full-on BOOTylicious this week (worst joke ever…)

Boots are pretty much synonymous with fall, with as many colours and styles available to suit any seasonal shift. Living in a winter city myself, I have many months of thick, heavy-duty boots in my future, which is why I’m currently obsessed with ankle boots. They’re fun, flirty and weather appropriate, which makes them appealing on so many levels. You can throw them on with jeans just as easily as shorts or flirty little dresses, and they look great with or without tights, which helps gives your fall wardrobe a leg up.

As a home stager, appearance is everything, and although I would love living in my UGGs or Hunters, they are not an option when at work for my company. To not look too casual, booties are great and comfortable. Perfect for all seasons and occasions, these Steve Madden booties have become key staples in my wardrobe. Whether pairing the pair with shorts, a skirt or pants these booties are very easy to make that transition from warmer to cooler weather.

Living in Alberta, with an abundance of snow in the winter means I own my fair share of boots. I like to have a few pairs of fun, trendier boots, which I spend a little less money on. The pairs I like to invest in are good quality, more of a classic style and are usually made of leather. This way, you know the boots are going to last a couple of years and they will be able to hold up in the harsh weather. These Vince Camuto boots are just that. I love the mix between cowboy boot style and riding boot style. Plus, the ombre colour blend is beautiful. They almost make me want to say bring it on winter. Almost.

For me, the arrival of fall comes with a few guaranteed returns: tights, cozy sweaters, red wine, searing hot coffee, trench coats & bombers, soup, a haircut, and very importantly: boots. This is that particular time of year where you can still galavant about in heels without injury, though it’s getting a wee bit inappropriate for open pumps. It’s not winter boot season just yet, but it’s still time to make a transition. Enter: ankle bootie. I had been ogling lace up ankle boots since last autumn, and this year was the year that I finally found a pair that I loved. Pairing these with a perfectly fitting skinny pants or jean and an oversized fisherman’s sweater will make for one dreamy fall day, and one happy gal.
