The ugly Christmas sweater: Style Panel adds a fashionable twist to this yuletide tradition
It’s about that time! Chestnuts roasting by an open fire seem even more fitting when you’ve got a perfect sartorial match: the ugly Christmas sweater. This year, we took the Style Panel to task, challenging them to share their best geek chic looks. Across the board, it seemed that cheesier was better, with Lion Hunter’s Mo Handahu going all out in a hilariously embellished vest and Shorts Presents‘ Kayla Short taking a cue from everyone’s favourite Christmas hero, Kevin McAllister. On the flipside, Born Lippy‘s Melanie Morais kept it classy, embracing a menswear inspired look that screams oh so winter cozy.

When it comes to the ugly Christmas sweater party, I think the cheesier the better. You can never go wrong with a good solid nod to classic like Home Alone. I make sure to make it extra Christmas-y by pairing the red T-shirt with some plaid green trousers and little frosting. Happy Holidays!

“I love everything that has to do with the holidays. For the past ten years my friends and I have an ugly Christmas sweater party and we go all out. I do think you can find a holiday sweater that isn’t so ugly though. This one from Joe Fresh is actually men’s but I love the oversized fit and the pop of red. You can easily dress it down with leggings and boots or a little dressier with your favourite skirt. The thing I love about Christmas sweaters is that they’re classic so no matter what you pair it with, it will always be in season! Happy Holidays!
