Soft shades of pink and blue are often associated with spring, so we’ll forgive you for thinking this trend is one you’ve seen before. For Spring 2014 it’s all about making a statement with pastels, from head-to-toe looks that stand out to unexpected mixes of feminine shades with masculine tailoring details. But when you’ve had a closet full of baby blue and baby pink items for a few seasons now, how do you make it look new again?

We asked the Style Panel this very question and, as always, they provided many helpful tips and tricks for refreshing your take on pastels the season. For Northern Style ’s Kira Paran, a pastel leather jacket serves as an edgy way to wear the shade—and, as an added bonus, is an item that doesn’t require above-average spring temps to wear. The blogger behind Barbara Ann’s Style Blog , showed us her take on wearing monochromatic pastels, with a few easy tips on how to make the look less head-to-toe and more grounded. And should you still not be brave enough to wear all-over pastels, Coco and Vera’s Cee Fardoe shows us how this trend works just as well with pastel-hued accessories. So, how do you wear pastel shades? Flip through for inspiration on how to change it up this season.

I love the pastel trend this spring. It renews my wardrobe and brings it out of the dark rich colour palettes of winter into new light fresh fashion territories. To add a little edge to an otherwise very feminine trend, why not go with a leather option in a faint pink or blue?

Pastels have been elevated this season and it’s all about effortless femininity with an edge. Wearing one tone, head-to-toe, is how we saw it on the runway, but to make this look more wearable I’ve grounded the outfit with a pair of black mules, and added a contrasting petal pink raw silk robe. Pastels are the perfect way to update an outfit for spring and if the monochromatic look is too much, try swapping out one piece of the outfit for a lighter hue.

Pastels return each spring in a big way, and for this season I look for ways to add some jazz to these warm color palettes by pairing with edgier pieces. For maximum impact, I`ve paired this soft pastel polka-dot blouse with the bold blooms in the pencil skirt, finished off with the on-trend metallic jacket. The mixed prints and textures create an outfit that I`ll rock all season long!

Pastels always make me think spring, no matter what the season. I love sky blue and pale pink as much as the next girl, but when it comes to getting dressed every day, I still feel my best in neutrals. This season, instead of pale pink pleated skirts and mint blouses, which I’ve done for the past few seasons, I’m experimenting with pastel shoes and accessories. These blush pumps add a fun pop of colour to a neutral outfit – and the metallic toe cap adds just a bit of edge to the look, without taking away from the feminine, romantic quality of the soft shade.

Pastel palettes are one of my favourite, no matter what season! I am so happy that the trend is continuing through Spring/Summer and info Fall/Winter 2014/15 because I think the tones are flattering on everyone. Of course my favourite is pale pink, but frosted blue is super pretty too – and they are a killer combo paired together!

Although Spring hasn’t quite made it’s way to Calgary yet, pastels are here with full force. I’ve had my eye on baby blue items and when I saw this moto I knew I found it. What I loved about it is that it has a mix of textures which makes it interesting and unique among other similar items. A fun way to stand out on this trend is to pair it with other shades of blue from your clothes, accessories and even your nails! I’m looking forward to pairing it with tons more outfits once the weather gets warmer!
