Proenza Schouler Fall 2014

Proenza Schouler

If entering the orange neon lit gallery space where the brand’s fall show took place was a bit jarring, I was immediately put at ease once the show began. A perfect blend of rad newness and Proenza signatures, the creamsicle-on-mint-on-cobalt layered pieces were so fun, yet so grown up in all their jacquard-weave structure.

Hugo Boss Fall 2014

Hugo Boss

Jason Wu debuted his first collection for German megabrand Hugo Boss yesterday to a stacked front row including Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Gerard Butler, Benedict Cumberbatch and Blue is the Warmest Colour star Adele Exarchopoulos. Elegant, understated and perfectly Boss, the clothes safely ensured his tenure for another season, while reimagining the house’s codes with Bauhaus embroidery, elongate silhouettes and a hint of red carpet-worthy shimmer.

Michael Kors Fall 2014

Michael Kors

Easy beauty is what Michael Kors does best and yesterday’s beautiful showing was just what that was. Monochrome neutrals, chunky knits and subtle burnout dresses suited model favourites Karen Elson, Jacquetta Wheeler and Caroline Murphy to a T.

Reed Krakoff Fall 2014

Reed Krakoff

This season’s cobalt trend suits Krakoff just fine, with the hue done best on tone-on-tone python patterned skirts and dresses. I think Reed Krakoff is really underrated which could be a matter of timing. Should he have risen to fame in the ’90s, we’d all be extolling his restraint, runway re-imaginations abound.

Though just a tight selection of the brand’s easily sellable wares, yesterday’s presentation afforded me my first chance to gaze upon the Olsens and that was very exciting.
