Paris Fashion Week: From surprise runway stars to Chanel’s latest display, the standout moments of the Fall 2015 shows
If you can call eight days a whirlwind, then that’s just what Paris Fashion Week has been. With over a week of Fall 2015 shows ending today with editor favourites Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu, we’re looking back at the best moments from fashion week, both on and off the runway.
Louis Vuitton’s spaceship showspace
What better place for Nicolas Ghesquière to debut his latest masterpiece for Louis Vuitton than a custom-built space-worthy show pod outside the newly-minted Frank Gehry building for its foundation, which felt like equal parts The Hunger Games cornucopia and Epcot Center.
Blonde and Blonder
News of Kim Kardashian’s freshly bleached hair dominated Twitter feeds last week, only to then be topped by her constantly (but ever-so-slightly) shifting hue. Blonde, platinum, white… Here’s hoping K.K.’s the first to invent clear hair.
The new Hermès
It’s pretty safe to say that Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski’s debut at Hermès went off without a hitch. Subtle heritage references were anything but predictable, with this silk scarf skirt making it to the top of our dream shopping list.
Chanel’s Brasserie Gabrielle
Karl Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais into his latest spectacle, a traditional French restaurant, complete with waiters, bars, banquettes and a slew of top models (Cara, Kendall, Lindsey, Joan) who pranced throughout. Post-show, models posed for photo-ops while Karl got behind the bar and chatted with the audience.
Zoolander hits fashion week
What better way to mark the return of a classic than on the runway at a totally legit fashion show? Yesterday, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson reprised their roles as Derek and Hansel on the runway at Valentino to announce the release of Zoolander 2 in 2016. Insert your favourite quote here!
