With the hectic frenzy of World Mastercard Fashion Week upon us, now is prime time to contemplate calm and serenity. Last night’s Pink Tartan’s clean-lined collection was the perfect breath of fresh air. Even the runway décor echoed the collection’s ease. Big tissue paper puffs dotted the catwalk and made the models appear as if they were walking on clouds.

Moving away from spring’s fringe-filled ‘70s collection and eschewing a heavy-handed theme, designer Kim Newport-Mimran’s pared down pieces spoke to a modern, unfussy woman. Breezy buttoned dresses, floor-dusting collarless coats and waist-tied cropped culottes are fresh new shapes for the brand. Mimran also sprinkled in wide leg work wear trousers, striped shirts that buttoned up backwards, easy ribbed turtleneck sweaters and cozy coats—like the boxy blue and white check number—that are sure to have Pink Tartan’s core customer lined up. Of course it wouldn’t be a Pink Tartan show without a little whimsy, which came in the form of ear-grazing bows fastened to the shoulders of a crisp white shirt and a wedding-worthy ivory gown.

The accessories were covetable too. Clear glass orbs hung from models’ swan-like necks, thick leather cuffs swallowed up wrists, and best of all, chunky fur stoles in forest green and marbled greys were slung across shoulders and secured into place with wide black leather belts.
