What’s your morning ritual? “I have half a cup of oatmeal with blueberries and almonds, and a black Earl Grey tea or small OJ. It’s boring but it works.”
How do you keep fit? “My routine is three days of cardio and one of weights. For cardio, I do 40 minutes of interval training on a bike or elliptical. My weights routine is designed by my trainer, Marty Smits. I see him for an hour every other week. After every workout, I have a protein shake.”
Do you listen to music when you work out? “Gotta have music. The heavier, the better—usually AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Airbourne, Beastie Boys, Metallica. Angry, heavy guitar is key.”
Has your regime changed? “When I turned 30, I noticed the weight creeping on. It was depressing. I decided to hire a trainer and see if it made a difference—it did. He got me eating properly—fruits, vegetables, protein—and doing a proper workout.”
Does being on TV affect your fitness regime? “When you are in the public eye, people think they can comment on your weight or appearance—sometimes it stings. I am definitely my harshest critic. Three years ago, I was 20 pounds heavier. I work very hard and need to be disciplined. If I wasn’t on TV every night, it would be easy to let it slip.”
I’d be a happy woman if I never had to... “Do another walking lunge. The only reason I do it is because it makes my butt look good."
