Getaway: 48 hours in Las Vegas

What happens in Vegas...comes home to your closet. Haute shopping in the city of sin has never been so good.

Day 1
9:13 a.m.
The luxury pot has been sweetened considerably for travellers with the recent launch of the CityCenter complex (citycenter.com), which includes three new upscale spots to lay your pretty head. The über-posh Mandarin Oriental (shown, mandarinoriental.com/vegas) lures the Japanese Chanel-clad set; the rock stars will head to cool, boutique-y Vdara Hotel & Spa (vdara.com); and those who want simple and modern (the whole LEED-certified room is operated by a remote), with a splash of old-school Vegas in the form of a ground-level casino, will check themselves into Aria Resort & Casino (arialasvegas.com). Oh, how to choose?

10 a.m. Fuel up for your spending adventures with a hedonistic morning treat: sorbet or gelato from the too-adorable Sweet Chill in Aria. Cinnamon butterscotch cookie for sinners, sugar-free chocolate for killjoys.

10:47 a.m. A 20-minute taxi ride off the strip is Las Vegas Premium Outlets (premiumoutlets.com), an outdoor mall where you can scoop up last season’s—and, in some lucky cases, this season’s—goodies from the likes of Michael Kors and Dolce & Gabbana.

1:11 p.m. Head back to Aria for a charming tapas lunch at Julian Serrano. Crab gazpacho, golden and red beet salad and a selection of jaunty ceviches are topped off nicely with chocolate cake with full-fruit in-house mango sorbet.
