I always end my letters by reminding readers about how much I love to hear from you. And it’s true — your letters are my own little focus group. I know how closely we hit the mark with an issue by the quantity and quality of the letters we receive. Although the editors here make predictions on which stories will inspire the most reaction, it’s not always clear what will strike a chord.
Some themes, however, are evergreen. FASHION Magazine is unique in that we cover the international fashion scene but also local shopping in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. While readers who live in those cities love us for it, those who don’t can sometimes feel left out of the fun. I regularly receive letters reminding me that Halifax has great shoe shopping, Saskatoon boasts beautiful spas, and Ottawa … don’t even get them started on Ottawa! We may not be ready to open offices in each of these places, but your letters have helped inspire another way for us to spread the style news from across Canada.
Introducing fashionmagazine.com’s Reporter Search: We’re looking to add the country’s best style bloggers to our fashion team. We want to hear about the secret (and not-so secret) shopping addresses in your city or town. The contest starts now, and in the fall 10 bloggers from across the country will join our team for one year. If you think you’ve got what it takes (or if you’ve ever written to me about how we’re ignoring your town!), click here for all the details.
And I have to say it — I can’t wait to read your submissions.
