About Sarah
I have just graduated from communications with a major in journalism. Writing has always been a passion and fashion is another, so while in college I combined the two and wrote my own fashion column for the school paper. I covered everything from shopping on eBay to the tricks of thrift hunting. Following that same trend, my thesis was a six-minute pilot episode on the local fashion scene called Fashion Winnipeg. Ultimately my goal is to write professionally about everything and anything fashion.

Who is your style icon and why?
Ashley Olsen constantly inspires me. I love how she takes casual pieces and pairs them with something pretty or elegant. Not to mention her incredible knack for accessorizing with beautiful bags, loud shoes and gaudy jewellery.

What's your favourite item in your closet?
My vintage Neiman Marcus cardigan sweater. It's covered in the most beautiful gold- sequined designs, which adds an edge and a hint of sexy to any outfit.

What was your favourite childhood outfit?
I had the cutest sailor dress, that according to my mom, I wore incessantly. It was white with navy blue detailing and gold buttons. It was so fabulous I would still wear it if I could.

What's your worst outfit ever?
My worst outfit ever would have to be from my “bar star” days. I would put on my favorite pair of low rise jeans and a “sexy” midriff-showing top. I cringe every time I'm reminded of those days.

Name a current celeb whose style you admire and tell us why.
I love almost everything Kate Moss puts on. She has this way of looking half put together yet perfectly elegant. I love how she combines comfort with style and embodies the term- “effortless beauty.”

What's a trend you hate?
I never understood the turban trend. While Prada, Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren were some of the designers who adopted this idea by accessorizing their runway outfits with these so-called stylish headpieces, it’s one that I could never pull off.

Why do you love the shopping/fashion scene in your town?
While Winnipeg isn’t generally known for its shopping, any fashion savvy girl living here can tell you that it has its share of hidden treasures (not to mention some quality boutiques that offer one of a kind pieces that only you will have). Local designers can custom make your clothing, or if fine merchandise is your fancy, a handful of shops can cater to you as well.
