Girls About Town
Contrary to what some may think, Winnipeg is rife with young trendsetters. Local vintage stores are bursting with hip finds that make Winnipeg the unique city that it is. We showcase some of our favorite finds, and those who wear them, on our fashion blog Tjejsajten (pr. shay-sight-en). Inspired by international fashion blogs, we started documenting our stylish city to put Winnipeg on the fashion map. Stylish readers from all over the world have a new appreciation for our city—even if it's only through the internet.
Meghan's blue kimono was a hidden treasure found buried at the Goodwill store in Winnipeg's Exchange District (70 Princess St., 204-943-6435). If you're up for a bit of a hunt, that location also sells bikes, vintage furniture and just about anything you could dream up. Lana found her red kimono at Ruby Slipper Vintage Shoppe (970 Sargent Ave., 204-237-4976), which houses an overwhelming collection of beautiful vintage jewellery, clothing, shoes and accessories. The owner sells consignment items and regularly sifts through estate sales and church rummages, so most of the digging is done for you!
