Mon Amour: Mona Moore (1446, Sherbrooke St., West, 514-842-0662)
Nestled within the boutiques of Sherbrooke St., Mona Moore shoe store epitomizes the aloof and understated elegance of Montreal style. Carrying avant-garde pairs from haute designers such as Dries Van Noten, Zoraide and Yohji Yamamoto, Mona Moore fulfills all footwear fetishes with its "gâteries féminines." The selection process is meticulous and only the crème of current shoes from Milan, New York and Paris return home. The eccentric and timeless shoes reflect the store's distinct taste for simplicity. Mona Moore wants to impart a genuine appreciation for fashion, the female foot and the resulting art of beautiful shoes.

Think Pink: Le Marché Mtl (24 des Pins Ave., East, 514-907-2487)
Marché Mtl is that secret wardrobe in your grandmother's crowded attic, only pink and filled with candy. Welcoming you with these edible goodies, Marché Mtl. encourages a sense of female sensuality and an appreciation for dressing up. It provides a young sophistication for individuals with these future vintage pieces from emerging designers. "We want the pieces to be found and stolen by your granddaughter," says manager, Sabrina Maisonneuve. To celebrate the Sex and the City movie premiere Le Marché sold Timmy Woods clutches, including the Eiffel Tower, which were made famous during the series. Sigh.
