Hipster Gets a Day Job
I don’t live in a city. I don’t even live in a town. I live on an isolated road where 75 per cent of the residents are related to me. So, although there is much to be said about the thrift shopping and otherwise of the town closest to me (Belleville, Ont.), I thought it would be fitting to write about a fashion find a little closer to home: my grandmother’s closet! The closets of your older relatives are gold mines. Chances are, if they are vintage, then they’ve got some vintage clothing kicking around somewhere. I applied this logic when helping Granny clean out her closet, and you wouldn’t believe what I uncovered! My favourite find was this plaid, 1960s coat, which belonged to my mother when she was a girl. Aren’t clothes so much more interesting when they have a story behind them?
