When the desire to look fabulous and wear big names is overruled by a collective community consciousness that encourages hip Haligonians to buy vintage, could anything be more exciting than stumbling upon a big-name frock in a thrift store’s two-dollar hope chest? This pale pink, organic cotton Marc Jacobs dress has an empire waist, a ruffled skirt and a delicate ribbon that wraps around the waist. It is exactly what Laura Ingalls Wilder would have worn if she were a stylish resident of the windy city, and it cost less than a cup of fair-trade coffee. The local hipsters are way jealous.
