About Connie
I’m an aspiring style geek on a quirk hunt seeking creative potential and beauty among all odd goods.
Who is your style icon and why?
Miuccia Prada showcases quirk at its most sophisticated and elegant fashion often which coincides with my "it's so ugly, it works!" style aesthetic.
What’s your favourite item in your closet?
Just one!? Its a tie between my basic black 4-inch peep toe heels, my argyle-meets-poka-dot patterned pantyhose and my oversized tweed patterned baby doll cloak jacket.
What was your favourite childhood outfit?
A mod styled dress with orange and white stripes topping knee-high black socks and a pair of black, flat Mary Jane Chinese shoes. Beige circular purse with silver focal center buckle.
What’s your worst outfit ever?
Something that involved matching track suits, or sandals with socks.
Name a current celeb whose style you admire and tell us why.
Masters of effortless quirk chic: Chloë Sevigny, Ashley Olsen, Zooey Deschanel, Vincent Gallo
What’s a trend you hate?
99% of the time I see odd pieces as fashion statements, but Crocs are beyond that. Even the most fashionable and stylish can't pull this one off. Unfortunately, it seems they are not going away anytime soon.
Why do you love the shopping/fashion scene in your town?
In Toronto, the fashion and shopping may consist of many chain retails, but we thrive on and love hunting for the odd vintage pieces just as much. A prestige exclusivity of being separate from the rest is the allure to all things odd. When you change the way you look at things, things you look at start to change. Stylish Torontonians have the style sensibility to recognize fashion outcasts/reject pieces as gems.
