About Kimberley
My name is Kimberley Jev and I am a third year journalism student at Mount Royal College. I have lived all over the world and spend my time taking photographs and designing my blog! I am an avid fashion follower and truly believe that it is my calling.
Who is your style icon and why?
In terms of classic icons, I believe my mother is my style icon. She has the ability to spend very little on clothing and yet remain fabulous by accessorizing with scarves and unique jewellery (mostly gold and white gold pieces). She is glamorous without being ostentatious clothing choices.
What’s your favorite item in your closet?
At the moment, my favorite item in my closet is a faded blue jean skirt by Levi’s. I've seen many girls rocking similar skirts and believe they are already big for the summer.
What was your favorite childhood outfit?
As a child, when we lived in Nigeria, I had the chance to have outfits made for me. I would get birthday dresses made every year, as well as for any occasion my parents would have to attend. A favorite outfit of mine from was a vibrant blue dress with pink accents. I chose the material and the dress was designed by me as well.
What’s your worst outfit ever?
I have no worst outfits; I rock out no matter what!
Name a current celeb whose style you admire and tell us why.
A celebrity/model I currently admire in terms of style is Omahyra Mota. She has such a solid look and yet still remains feminine. Her tattoos and the outfits she wears show exactly who she is and I feel her style exhibits strength and versatility. She's awesome!
What’s a trend you hate?
As much as I hate to say this because I feel there is some use for them in certain people’s lives, I would have to say the trend I hate the most is Crocs.
Why do you love the shopping/fashion scene in your town?
Calgary is such a progressive city. Over the past five years I have seen it blossom from having a handful of boutiques and fashion conscious people to a city with a wide array of retail. Having had the opportunity to shop in Europe and other parts of the world, I found shopping and fashion in Calgary a little hard to take in the beginning. These days however store owners and designers are spending more time on delivering exclusive products and providing more details on brands. Fashion education in Calgary has heightened over the years and I love that I am blown away by the products and lines carried here.
