There are seven days until all hollow’s eve and if our suggestions for becoming Kristen Stewart or Marc Jacobs weren’t enough for you, today we bring you the easiest Lana Del Rey costume possible.
To truly become the sultry songstress, this look is all about volume. Who would Lana Del Rey be without the poutiest pout around and biggest hair on the block? Just another gal, that’s who. So keep your shorts small, your t-shirt tied in a knot, your hair huge and you’ve got the look. Or, to make it super legit, add a biker gang to emulate her latest video.
WIG: Lana Del Rey’s hair is one of her signature pieces. It’s always big and always perfectly curled. With her recent adventures with different hair colours, the Lana costume is easy for anybody, no matter the shade of your locks. (Just make sure to brush out the wig with a large paddle brush to give it that '60s vibe.)
Amy Wig ($46, malabar.net)
HAIRSPRAY: If you’re lucky enough to have hair as long as Lana Del Rey’s, you may want to opt out of wearing a wig and just go natural (as natural as a four inch bouffant can be). Grab a comb, and the most extreme hairspray you can find, and start backcombing. Soon, your hair will be larger than life and just like Lana’s.
Bumble and Bumble spray de mode ($15, sephora.com)
NAILS: Lana Del Rey's nails are always large and in charge, but because there isn’t enough time to grow your own out, grab a pair of press-ons and well, press them on. Press-ons always come longer than necessary, so once applied, file the fakes into Lana's telltale almond shape.
Broadway Nails Impress Manicure ($9, well.ca)
LIPS: We weren’t all born with a super large pout, but luckily there are products on the market that will perk our lips right up. DuWop’s Lip Venom increases the circulation in your lips making them look bigger than normal.
DuWop Lip Venom ($16, sephora.com)
BOOTY SHORTS: There’s a reoccurring theme with Lana Del Rey: the bigger the hair the better and the bootier the short, the better. So find a pair of vintage cut-offs (or DIY a pair) and make sure they are as short as you can handle. This is important for mastering the Lana look.
Urban Renewal Wrangler denim cut-offs ($44, urbanoutfitters.com)
T-SHIRT: Grab a graphic T-shirt or borrow one from a man friend and tie it in a summery knot to show off a little stomach. It gives the whole look a kind of rocker vibe and it’s super easy to find a shirt that fits the look.
NY Vintage Flag Roll T-shirt ($32, topman.com)
FLOWER CROWN: Lana Del Rey has been noted as a fan of the headpiece: she wore a Native American headdress in “Ride” and a blue flower crown in “Born To Die.” The flower crown will be an obvious tip to people assessing your costume and guessing you’re going as Lana Del Rey. This is also a super simple DIY. Head to your local dollar store, pick up some faux roses and hot glue them to a headband—voilà! Flower crown. See Rookie Mag for more help.
