While Paris Fashion Week is known for its haute couture shows from some of the most established and heralded fashion houses, there’s a (relatively) new kid on the block. H&M was back in Paris last night for their blow-out Fall Winter 2014 show. In their usual over the top style—remember that insane Isabel Marant for H&M launch party?— last night’s show transformed the Grand Palais into a grunge warehouse complete with a treaded metal runway and live performance by French singer Cecile Cassel. The stars turned up in droves for the show with models, actresses and singers from far and wide showing off their high street duds.

New H&M ambassador Miranda Kerr turned up the wow-factor for her first official appearance for the brand in a black dress by the Swedish retailer. The cutaway hem and classic black pumps had a subtle retro spin, keeping the look glamorous and ladylike, made fresh with a loose ponytail chignon. Jessica Alba, looking every bit the virtuous health crusader that she is, donned a romantic white lace H&M minidress, vamped up with black tights and a deep wine coloured lip. Solange Knowles, known for her penchant for bold prints and bright colours, spiced things up in a graphic romper with plunging neckline accessorized with an equally fabulous blue necklace and chain cross.

While the looks differ dramatically, going from formal glamour to playful casual, it’s a good lesson in the variety of ways to do evening wear. Which is your favourite front row look?
