Important: today is Bill Murray Day – the best day of the year. The day on which one of the greatest comedic personalities descends upon our fair city to bless us with wit, majesty, and a whole bunch of stories no one will believe unless they were there. And it starts today; nay, now.

Of course, this all stems from today’s premiere of Murray’s latest movie, St. Vincent (co-starring Melissa McCarthy and Chris O’Dowd). But in addition to the film’s debut tonight at 9 p.m. ET, this day is also so much more.

Leading up to the premiere, the TIFF Bell Lightbox will screen three of Murray’s greatest/most iconic films: Stripes (at 10 a.m. ET), Groundhog Day (12 45 p.m. ET), and Ghostbusters (at 3:30 p.m. ET), for free on a first come, first serve basis. What’s even better (if there’s such a thing) is that following Ghostbusters – and then later, St. Vincent – Murray will attend a Q&A.

So stick around if you know what’s good for you is what I’m saying.

However, if you play your cards right, you might find yourself at the Gala screening tonight at the Princess of Wales after all. While most of us will be on the outside looking in, the Lightbox will be holding a Bill Murray costume contest all day for a chance to win one of nine tickets to the screening.

What a wonderful time to be alive.

Of course, there’s a real chance that during the course of the festival – or at least the day – Bill Murray could show up literally anywhere. Five days ago, he showed up to take tickets at a minor league baseball game in Minnesota. Then, back in June, he crashed a couple’s engagement photo shoot, officially making it the first interesting engagement photo shoot to ever exist. In May, he crashed a bachelor party and gave a beautiful/perfect speech.

Stars may be just like us, but Bill Murray sure isn’t. That’s why all we can hope is that Bill Murray Day makes like its Groundhog counterpart and keeps repeating.

We love you, Bill.
