Every year, there’s an unofficial competition of which department store has the most dazzling display and it’s always tough. And with November marking the beginning of the festive season, we’ve rounded up some of the best from around the world.

First up, Paris. This year, Printemps tapped the likes of Burberry and Christian Louboutin to bring the Printemps Fairy to life. And to keep things casual, Kate Winslet came to inaugurate the ceremony. Meanwhile, London’s Harrods kept to traditions and created a story-themed display called “Once Upon a Christmas,” where windows were adorned with pieces by Stella McCartney, Bottega Veneta and Balenciaga.

No doubt a children’s favourite, New York’s Macy’s recruited Charlie Brown and his friends for this year’s “It’s The Great Window Unveiling Charlie Brown.” Meanwhile, designer go-to Barneys New York collaborated with Lexus on the “December to Remember” theme and created an elaborate racetrack just for the occasion. Over here on home turf, Holt Renfrew‘s “Christmas Imagined by Holts” approach did not disappoint. Drawing inspiration from childhood memories, windows were decorated with larger-than-life presents, toys and Christmas crackers that were placed next to designer-decked mannequins.

And what holiday window round-up is complete without Bergdorf Goodman? Being the Holy Grail of holiday windows, it’s become one of the social events and must-sees of the year. This year the luxe department store collaborated with Swarovski on a series of bedazzling displays to showcase the theme “Brilliant.” On the day of the unveiling ceremony, a few A-list stars even joined the festivities, which included Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Tom Hiddleston who were present to show off the one window inspired by their latest film, Crimson Peak.
