Grey Goose’s annual TIFF takeover of Soho House kicked off last night in typically buzzy fashion, with a pre-premiere party of Nightcrawler, the crime drama starring Jake Gyllenhaal as a Ray Ban-wearing journo in 1950s L.A.

Keeping track of an actor’s current look is all in the art of TIFF celeb spotting, and last night it took me a moment to re-adjust from Last Year Jake (bearded, three-piece suit, slick backed hair at the Enemy party) to Present Day Jake (slim, buzz-cut, wearing worn work boots with a navy suit). Once I did though, my mission of getting up close and personal became clear: ogle from afar and by that I mean graze his hand as I reach for my tenth bocconcini hors d’oeuvre.

Co-stars Rene Russo and Riz Ahmed were also in attendance, Russo in leggy form, wearing a fringe skirt and simple black V-neck á la Altuzarra Spring 2014. To look that sexy at any age, let alone at 60, would be the feat of my life.
