It looks like celebrities are saving their floor-length gowns for the biggest night of year, because earlier this week, Hollywood’s leading ladies worked cocktail mini dresses (albeit prim and proper) at the annual Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon. Reese Witherspoon and Rosamund Pike both played with interesting silhouettes (a fit-and-flare for Witherspoon, a voluminous bell skirt for Pike), but it was Emma Stone who mesmerized in her stripe versus polka dot ensemble by Michael Kors. While we would have loved to see another A+ men-inspired piece on the Birdman actress, Stone made our best-dress list with this ultra-ladylike look.

Meanwhile down under, Scarlett Johansson pleasantly surprised us in an edgy Preen fringe dress and a new buzzed bob at the 2015 G’Day USA Gala in Sydney, Australia. Back on this hemisphere, Mila Kunis made her first red carpet appearance since giving birth, appearing in a bustier strapless Dolce & Gabbana dress that is sure to inspire another perfect Valentine’s Day date night outfit at the premiere of her new action flick, Jupiter Ascending.
