The week in celebrity style: See who made our best-dressed list

We may have already seen celebrities working Spring 2015 trends (like ‘70s-inspired looks and cinched waists) into their red carpet looks at last week’s BAFTA Awards, but it looks like another trend, sheer detailing, took the spotlight this week.

Keira Knightley opted for a romantic black and white lace look by Burberry, and up-and-coming red carpet star Lily James wore a semi-revealing Mary Katrantzou dress for the Cinderella photocall at the 65th Berlinale International Film Festival. Meanwhile, our February cover girl Anna Kendrick also played with the sheer trend at the premiere of The Last Five Years in a deep V-neck outfit by Vionnet.

Speaking of plunging necklines, this risqué detail is becoming the hot trend on the red carpet as well (see: Grammys 2015). Buzzy actress Dakota Johnson was seen in an array of innocent-meets-sultry V-neck dresses during the much-anticipated 50 Shades of Grey promo tour, but it was this white Saint Laurent gown that really caught our eye.

The cleaving-baring look was also favourite at the SNL 40th Anniversary Special with Kerry Washington’s mini-tuxedo look taking the lead. There were also gowns aplenty at the milestone event, but it was A-listers like Taylor Swift, Olivia Wilde, and Emma Stone who opted for anything but floor-length dresses that really stood out.
