Rick Bergen applies his observant personality to all the outfits he designs in his Yorkville studio/boutique. Now two years old, the calm, high-ceilinged space, with its clusters of spherical paper lanterns, offers a respite for women anxious about fitting into elegant eveningwear. Bergen is determined to make dresses and suits that play up sensuous curves, whether the woman is a size 10 or 24. Off-the-rack designs are considered “active samples” and can always be altered, while custom requests—from neckline to hemline—are also possible. This is glamour in a most gracious way.
