Manicures and pedicures
The Dr. Fish treatment has little fishies imported from Turkey nibbling on your dry skin (don’t worry, they don’t have teeth) for an invigorating footbath. Then an aesthetician scrubs your heels and other rough spots with reckless abandon using quality Footlogix products, followed by a Creative Nail Design cooling mask. The new OPI Axxium Soak-Off Gel Lacquer manis are painted on and must be dried under UV lights, but last for weeks—even if you swim in salt or chlorinated water. Manicures from $22, pedicures from $38, fish massage, $20 for 15 minutes.
Hair Removal
Laïlaima puts you at ease with her warm hospitality, so you feel at home in her Old Montreal salon, which she has decorated with goddess sculptures. Her hair-removal alternative to wax—a blend of Egyptian honey, sugar and lemon—is so natural you can eat it (not recommended) and only gets as hot as your own skin temperature. It also dissolves easily, so there’s no sticky residue. Half leg, $29, full leg, $53, bikini, $35, Brazilian, $28.
