Officially, the spelling is N()ir, but before you judge it as esoteric, take a look around. Under the supervision of Peter Halpin, who has yet to lose his eccentric retail edge, the store serves as a launching-pad for innovative, high-wattage labels. “We sell ideas,” he says of his Amex Black card–worthy clothes. Still, Martin Margiela, Yohji Yamamoto, Marni, Dries Van Noten and Roberto Cavalli never fail to get pulses racing. Not to be outshone, Dolce & Gabbana is featured prominently in this soaring conceptual showroom.
