In certain circles, Mel Rapp is considered an eyewear visionary. From the rimless frames he began selling in 1983 to his exhaustive selection today, he has always embodied the antithesis of “one size fits all.” This is most obvious in the funky collection he relaunched three years ago, which now sells in Paris and L.A. Rapp’s wife, Julia, finds the other distinctive lines—Theo’s vintage-inspired stainless-steel collection; L.A. Eyeworks, a current darling; and Mykita’s minimalist cool.
