Montreal Beauty Reporter: Mood by Pure
We chat with Dawn Murray, manager of Mood by Pure.
Dawn Murray left the financial industry a year and a half ago to go back to her more colourful career as a makeup artist. When she’s not out freelancing or picking up awards (she recently netted the L’Oréal Color Trophy award for best makeup), you’ll find her at the Body & Soul makeup counter in Mood by Pure.
Why do you like the Body & Soul line? “I first fell in love with the line because of the fun, girlie packaging. It’s very classic makeup that appeals to everyone, but it also has some extra little touches, like the Glitz face and body powder, that are really fun.”
What is a good look to complement this season’s fashions? “This fall’s makeup palette reminds me of the things that I would find in my mother’s makeup case in the ’80s. The look is very ‘done,’ and grey eyes are very big. I like to line the eyes using Body & Soul Eye Liner [$20] in ‘Drama,’ then retrace the line with Panther Brow Powder [$20] on top to make it a little softer. I then line the lips using Shadow Lip Liner [$20] and fill them in with the new 4-Play Lip Balm [$22] in ‘Mmm…’ to give them a cranberry stain.”
How important is blush this season? “Blush is essential because it just brings the sophistication up a notch. I use Rouge Vanity [$20] as a contour on the cheekbones. It’s really great for rounder faces because it hollows out the cheekbones and creates definition.”
What is your best-selling product? “One of the favourite products is the Glitz Moisturizer [$43]. Even though we’re getting away from glitter this season, people can’t get enough of it. I like to mix it with a little bit of foundation and use it as a highlight on the cheekbones.”
