Toronto Beauty Reporter: Oasis Spa
Size matters.
The day spa gets the supersize treatment this winter in Toronto’s historic, art gallery–saturated Distillery District. It’s no surprise that the Oasis Wellness Centre & Spa (55 Mill St., 416-364-2626, oasis-spa.com), which touts itself as Canada’s largest day spa, hails from the West—Alberta, to be exact, the same province that brought us the world’s largest shopping mall. When it comes to “big is better,” Oasis isn’t kidding, with 23,000 square feet of space to offer weary urbanites a respite from what ails them. Oasis serves up the usual suspects (facials, manicures and pedicures) but also has treatments such as Thai table massage, perfect for those who don’t like being in the buff but need to work out their flexibility, since it’s done fully clothed. “I like to describe it as a cross between yoga and massage therapy,” says Dan Thompson, Oasis’ creative director.
