Rebellious acts
In this time of recession, we’re supposed to be sticking to basics and staples, but in defiance of such austerity, I want ruffles and ruching from Designers Remix by Danish designer Charlotte Eskildsen. Launched in 2002, the spring collection, dubbed Asian Persuasion, consists of origami-inspired pleats and folds and fanciful, exaggerated bows on one-shoulder dresses (shown, $506). Worry not, recessionistas: Plenty of grey and black reflect the economic gloom. At Ginger Apparel (10116 124th St., Edmonton, 780-488-3344, gingerapparel.ca).
