Vancouver shops: February notes

Surviving Olympic fever, gold medal pomade, keeping stylish time and more.

We’ve all been counting down for months, and now, armed with a souvenir program, my FitFlop Snugger boots (in silver—they look like moon shoes) and a hot drink, I’m ready for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. While competing in an event isn’t an aspiration of mine (a realistic one, anyway), I’m all about going for gold in the sartorial sense.

The steal

Enter Oribe’s 24K Gold Pomade ($59), now available at Gloss Salon (3149 Granville St., 604-732-8282, glosshair.biz). The moisturizing formula, which could double as a shimmery body lotion come summer, contains actual flecks of the precious metal, so even if I can’t have a medal around my neck, I won’t be completely gold-deprived.
