Toronto’s nail bars get filed on a scale of one to five.
The Nail File
In search of a cheap and cheerful Manhattan manicure, our editors combed Toronto’s nail bars and rated them on a scale of one to five.
BEST OVERALL:
Lux-Spa (25 Bellair St., 416-921-1680, lux-spa.com). Our dry manicure was fantastic, from the incredible hand massage to manicurist Danielle’s picky-pants technique and the endless cups of chai tea. If only it took us less than 60 minutes…
Speed: 4 stars; Quality: 5 stars; Overall: 5 stars
Price: from $20
Polish: Essie, OPI, Zoya
THE FASTEST:
Buff Nail Lounge (117 Front St. E., 416-913-8880, buffnails.com). We loved getting in and out in under a half-hour, plus our cuticles have never looked better. But a heavy hand left a bubbly topcoat of polish.
Speed: 5 stars; Quality: 3.5 stars; Overall: 3.5
Price: $20
Polish: Buff Polish
PARTY SPOT:
The Ten Spot (749 Queen St. W., 416-915-1010, 10spot.ca). While our undercover editors found the service to be spotty, the nail bar’s Queen Street locale makes it the perfect launching pad for a girls’ night out.
Speed: 3 stars; Quality: 3 stars; Overall: 3 stars
Price: from $20
Polish: SpaRitual, OPI
