After three weeks of straight up Kate stalking, it’s nice to know the Duchess of Cambridge can still surprise and delight. On the final night of the Royal Tour, Kate did the black-and-white trend perfectly, wearing Texan-born designer Lela Rose for the first time. Pairing the airy white peplum dress alongside black accessories (suede Jimmy Choo Cosmic pumps and Mulberry Bayswater clutch, check!) is a new thing for the Duchess and pretty modern when you think about it—it wasn’t too long ago that dark accessories were considered a no-go with white dresses. The circular lace trim is also a step away from the typical, providing a peekaboo effect for Kate’s mega-toned upper arms. The black-tie reception was given the Governor-General in honour of the Royals and, capping a day of sightseeing in Canberra.

After winning an Oscar for her breakout performance in 12 Years a Slave and becoming the international face of Lacôme, Lupita Nyong’o is capping off a successful few months by being named People Magazine’s Most Beautiful Person 2014. Is there a more befitting head to place that crown? We think not.

Not only has Nyong’o become a fashion icon in her own right, she also continues to question and change beauty standards around the globe. In her cover story, the actress told People Magazine that she never dreamed she would be deemed the “most beautiful,” equating beauty with “light skin and long, flowing hair,” as a child.

Nyong’o is known for exploring the colour spectrum when walking the red carpet, giving us kaleidoscopic hits in Calvin Klein white, Dior green and Ralph Lauren red. Here are Lupita Nyong’o's top 10 red carpet looks thus far.

After yesterday’s glamping experience, Kate Middleton was back to her typically regal ways as the Royal tour of Australia continued in Adelaide. Arriving at Edinburgh RAAF base this morning, Kate wore a pastel pink peplum top and skirt by go-to Alexander McQueen as she greeted the latest batch of eager onlookers and a 6-year-old girl from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were then driven to the suburb of Elizabeth, which was named for the Queen in 1963. The two visited youth workshop Northern Sound Studio, where Kate basically made GIF history faux-spinning some records and persuading Prince William to follow suit. Later, the Duke and Duchess greeted with more Royal fans while unveiling Prince George Square.

Taylor Swift and Cara Delevingne to guest star on Girls

Taylor Swift Cara Delevingne Girls

For anyone who’s wasted productive hours trying to decipher which of the “ladies” is their favourite: things are about to get more complicated. It’s being reported that both Taylor Swift and Cara Delevingne are being written into the upcoming season of Girls. Swift, a.k.a. beholder of more best friends than humanly possible, has been courted for a cameo “for ages” and has finally agreed. Meanwhile, Delevingne is also being worked into the show as she is Lena Dunham’s “girl crush.” While it’s hard to imagine anyone could top the boss chops of Jenna Lyons, the new besties will no doubt add some GIFable flavour to season four.

Kate Middleton may wear many vibrant colours (bright blue being at the top of that list) but we’re quite fond of her other favourite go-to: dove grey. Today she wore two different dresses in shades of grey while out exploring the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park, home of the awe-inspiring Uluru/Ayer’s Rock. While the Duke of Cambridge spent the day in an all-khaki ensemble (fitting for a very hot day spent in the desert) Kate started the day in a custom Roksanda Ilincic dress. The sleeveless, asymmetrical dress is similar to the one Kate wore upon arrivial in Los Angeles in 2011, but less formal in both fabrication and silhouette—making it ideal for an afternoon spent at the National Indigenous Training Academy, watching your husband learn how to handle a two meter long traditional hunting spear. Celebrity Style

There’s nothing quite like a film festival to provide us with non-stop celebrity red carpet action. The Tribeca Film Festival kicked off last Thursday in New York City and celebrities showed up in dresses that looked like they stepped right out of our Spring 2014 trends guide. Fresh from the opening night of her Broadway debut, former Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester switched out of her elegant gown from the night before into a mermaid-esque dress for the screening of Life Partners (unfortunately without hubby/co-star Adam Brody by her side). Over on on the west coast, the second week of Coachella kept the festival fashion coming—but we also saw a number of festival-ready looks on red carpets in Hollywood. Olivia Munn rocked a black sleeveless romper by Valentino that would suit both a film premiere and music fest alike. With spring finally in the air, it’s no wonder A-list stars are dressing accordingly. Read more »

So much happened in Australia this weekend! When we last saw them on Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George had just arrived on the continent and the royal trio certainly had a busy Easter weekend. First up, the couple visited the Royal Easter Show in Sydney, where Kate Middleton joked about Prince William using some just-shorn alpaca fur as a toupee—and thus causing a thousand royal reporters around the globe to burst out laughing. The afternoon was spent on the beach, where’s Kate’s wardrobe choice for the day—a cream lace eyelet dress by Zimmermann and Stuart Weitzman wedge sandals—didn’t miss a beat. Though the royals did miss a chance to try surfing… Read more »
