We’re just one day into TIFF 2013 and it’s possible we’ve already reached a gossip fever pitch. At last night’s Blue Is the Warmest Color party, the biggest buzz was about a certain Daily Beast article that’s been making the media rounds all week. While the Thompson rooftop filled with partygoers—basically everyone from Toronto Life’s Most Stylish party plus TIFF fans fresh from The Fifth Estate red carpet premiere—the crowd was eager to see how Léa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos would act around director Abdellatif Kechiche. (There was also many a mention of the infamous prosthetics used in the film, but we won’t get into that.)

While partygoers huddled under heat lamps on the Thompson’s patio —except for Jay Strut who looked both stylish and cozy in his signature Balamin jacket and Ainsley Kerr who wore a gorgeous fur stole—all eyes were on the roped-off section of cabana seating where Seydoux, Exarchopoulos and the rest of the cast were expected to enter. Given the film’s three hour run time, we can understand the delay in arrival and there were plenty of Disaronno-sponsored drinks to go around. Something about an amaretto sour certainly brings to mind our own teenage coming-of-age years, making it all the more fitting as the drink of choice to celebrate Blue Is the Warmest Color—but we digress. There was, of course, enough local talent to keep the party exciting, including Kardinal Offishall in an appropriate shade of red, the Toronto Argonauts’ Mike Bradwell and actress Emily Hampshire.

Finally the cast arrived and with it all hope for gossip dissipated: Léa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos both said they would certainly work with Abdellatif Kechiche again and there were no hard feelings. Perhaps we should have been more direct in asking about those prosthetics after all…
