A new official portrait of Prince George! Plus, Kate Middleton recycles her Missoni tweed coat for a friend’s wedding

Is there better news for a Monday morning than two new photos of Kate Middleton? How about: two new photos of Kate, one of which is an official family portrait, complete with smiling Prince George, happy Lupo and doting dad, Prince William. Best Monday ever!
The official Cambridge family portrait was taken by Jason Bell, who also took the (super adorable) Prince George christening photos. Kate, Will, Prince George and Lupo are sitting in a window at apartment A1 in Kensington Palace, otherwise known as their new royal home and the family looks perfectly at ease. “Why yes, our baby does have the cutest, pudgiest cheeks! Oh, the personalized “George” sweater he’s wearing? That was just a small gift from Grandpa Charles.”
The photo’s release was timed with Mother’s Day (don’t panic, March 30 is British Mother’s Day, us North Americans don’t celebrate til May) and also coincides with next week’s royal tour of Australia and New Zealand. It’s pretty clear that Will and Kate want to be seen as approachable and friendly—Kate’s even wearing a blouse we’ve seen before, her Temperley “Rodeo” blouse that was worn at the Calgary Stampede in 2011.
As for the second photo of Kate Middleton from this weekend, the Duchess was captured en route to a friend’s wedding. Kate rarely wears something new when attending non-royal events, in a calculated effort to keep focus off her wardrobe choices. Her all-blue look was comprised of an M Missoni tweed coat (previously seen on an outing with the Queen and Camilla and on a trip to Nottingham with Will) a printed dress from Whistles and a dark blue hat from Lock & Co. (Also, scandal! Another wedding guest wore the same coat!) If you’re bored by this recycled look, we have a feeling it’s one of the last outfit repeats we’ll be seeing for a while: with up to three engagements per day scheduled on the Australia tour, we’re going to be in new Kate Middleton outfit overload next week!
